MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce recognized for leadership on jobs

The MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce was recognized for its commitment to retaining jobs as a partner of Grow Minnesota!SM, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce’s distinctive private-sector led economic development program. The MetroNorth Chamber is one of over 75 local partners in the statewide network.
“Grow Minnesota! celebrates over 13 years of thanking businesses for investing in their communities and our state,” said Bill Blazar, Minnesota Chamber senior vice president of public affairs and business development. “Key to our visits, we learn what it will take to keep a company in Minnesota, and when necessary, linking the owners and managers to the appropriate private- and/or public-sector resources to help solve its problems.”
Local chambers are at the foundation of the program’s statewide successes, Blazar said. During its 13 years, the 450-plus program volunteers have conducted close to 10,000 visits with Minnesota companies and provided direct assistance to nearly 2,000 businesses. Retention efforts have protected over 19,000 Minnesota jobs, a number that has only been tracked since 2009.
“Keeping our businesses here and ensuring they have the tools needed to grow and succeed is critical to the area’s economic vitality,” stated Lori Higgins, president of the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce. “Existing businesses provide jobs, expand operations, hire additional employees, and comprise a major component of our tax base. It is imperative that we recognize, support, and keep our current businesses. This is why we have been an active and proud member of Grow Minnesota! for the last 10 years, and we thank the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce for this recognition.”
Grow Minnesota! visits take an hour or less and all information is kept confidential. If interested in learning more, contact the MetroNorth Chamber at chamber@metronorthchamber.org or 763-783-3553.
The mission of the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce is to strengthen business and stimulate economic prosperity.
