    Position Summary:

    The Associate Scientist works independently.  They have the experience and technical, scientific, and quality knowledge to provide vision and guidance to completion of projects.  It is a common task to design and execute a variety of studies for feasibility, verification, and validation.  It is routine to contemporaneously write and record meeting minutes, design studies including results and summaries of data, as well as communicate updates in meetings or calls with clients.  All communications are recorded in the Design History File.  There are on-going R&D studies such as investigations and improvements to SOPs.  The studies and written records are comprehensive and can stand independently.  The Associate Scientist is fully capable of writing and executing studies of high quality that are reviewed, signed, and filed in master control.  This individual is expected to multi-task and manage multiple projects as well as identify significant research articles or material to assist in making high quality products.

    • May Train and give scientific guidance to others as needed
    • Define and propose appropriate processes
    • Make recommendations about group projects and priorities
    • Participate in cross functional or custom projects
    • Analyze data, draw conclusions and make decisions for next steps on assigned projects
    • Keep apprised of current trends in area of expertise
    • Responsible to do research to pull data from others to propose projects
      • Batch records from other departments or others work
      • Review current literature
    • Demonstrates an extensive technical knowledge.
    • Collaborates on projects with a broad scope, high impact or complexity. May lead projects of moderate complexity
    • Communicate effectively across groups and sites
    • Independently takes on additional responsibilities of a complex nature outside of day-to-day work
    • Critical thinking and independence is recognized by peers and leadership
    • Utilize knowledge and prior experience to troubleshoot and resolve issues for self or others
    • Troubleshoots and resolves issues arising in daily work
    • Responsible to do research to pull data from others to propose projects
      • Batch records from other departments or others work
      • Review and analyze current literature
    • Perform complex experiments or produce batches with minimal instruction or direction through critical decision points
    • May set up work or experiments for others
    • Recognized by peers and leaders as a problem solver and resource
    • Understand how their decisions impact the department and when to collaborate for input prior to implementing
    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • 4 year science degree with a minimum of 6 – 8 years of relevant experience or
    • Masters degree with a minimum of 3 -5  years of relevant experience
